Clean Like a Pro the Maid Right Way

At Maid Right we believe a clean home isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about creating a healthy and refreshing environment. As professional cleaners we train our team to follow strategic methods to get the job done efficiently. To give back a little to the community we want to offer some of our expert techniques in this month’s article. We hope this will help you make your cleaning routine more effective and less time-consuming. Here’s how to clean like a pro!

Start from the Top and Work Down

One of the biggest mistakes people make is cleaning their floors first, only to have dust and debris fall onto them from other surfaces. The key to an efficient cleaning process is starting at the highest points and working your way down.

Begin with ceiling fans, vent covers, and high shelves. Then, dust and wipe down furniture, countertops, and other surfaces before finally vacuuming and mopping the floors. This top-to-bottom method ensures you don’t have to redo work, saving you time and effort.

Use a Versatile All-Purpose Cleaner

Instead of stocking up on a different cleaner for every surface in your home, opt for a high-quality all-purpose disinfectant. This simplifies your cleaning routine and ensures you’re effectively eliminating bacteria and germs in high-traffic areas.

Look for a product that kills 99.9% of germs and is safe for a variety of surfaces, including countertops, fixtures, and floors. Also, be mindful of strong fragrances and harsh chemicals, as they can affect indoor air quality.

Microfiber Mops Are The Way To Go

The type of mop you use can make a big difference in how clean your floors look. Microfiber mops are lightweight, easy to sanitize, and highly effective at trapping dust and dirt without leaving streaks.

If you have textured stone or tile floors, consider using a mop with scrubbing nubs for tackling grout lines. However, avoid using abrasive materials on delicate hardwood or laminate flooring, as they can cause scratches.

Use a Squeegee for Streak-Free Glass

If you struggle with streaky mirrors and windows, swap out paper towels for a squeegee. A vinegar-based glass cleaner works wonders—mix equal parts warm water and white vinegar for a DIY solution.

For best results, clean using horizontal and vertical motions rather than circular ones. If you still see streaks, go over the area with a damp microfiber cloth to remove any residue.

Brighten Bedding with Oxygen Bleach

Keeping your white linens crisp and fresh requires more than just detergent. Instead of using liquid bleach, which can be harsh on fabrics, opt for powdered oxygen bleach. This color-safe option removes stains and brightens fabrics over time.

For optimal results, soak bedding in hot water (above 140°F) with oxygen bleach overnight before washing as usual. This method allows the bleach to break down stains effectively, leaving your linens looking like new.

Fight Mold and Soap Scum with Bleach

Mold and soap scum are common bathroom nuisances, but they don’t stand a chance against the right cleaning approach. At the first sign of mildew, treat your shower curtain and bathroom surfaces with a 5% bleach solution.

For small areas, use a cleaner with a precision applicator tip to target mold in caulk lines. For larger sections, a trigger nozzle spray ensures even coverage. Let the solution sit for a few minutes before wiping and rinsing with water.
